Welcome to September!
September is a big month. It has come to symbolize end of summer and back to school. But, it’s also about self-care. September is Self-Care Awareness month.
These days it is so easy to get caught up in your day-to-day routine that you leave very little time for yourself. This is why taking care of yourself is so important. It’s about taking time to be in touch with your physical, mental, and emotional needs. But, it is also about doing things each day to nourish those needs. Self-care is not selfish.
Self care is about being intentional. And that is not always easy. One thing you can do to make your self-care practice more intentional is to take this September Self-Care Challenge.
What is the September Self-Care Challenge?
Make a list of 30 things that you can do this month as acts of self-care. Remember, self-care is about giving your body and mind what they need, so they don’t need to be big things. They also don’t need to take a lot of time or cost a lot of money. After you have your list work on crossing things off. Look at your list each day and pick something that you can do for yourself.
Here are a few things to get you started:
- Go for a 15-minute walk.
- Call a friend.
- Meditate for 60-seconds.
- Read for 30-minutes.
- Try something new.

Self-Care Healthy Habits
While you are making your list you can take it further and challenge yourself to work on cultivating a healthy habit. Healthy habits are those things that can improve your well being. They are things that make us feel good. Don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to implement too many at once. But, here are a few ideas:
- Sleep – Get 7-8 hours of sleep.
- Health – Drink half your body weight in ounces of water.
- Beauty – Practice a nightly skin care routine.
- Home – Declutter a space that gives you anxiety and work to keep it that way.
There is no better time to take care of yourself. Use the comments to share some of the self-care items you add to your list.
