Organization Challenges and Pinterest Worthy Projects

I will be the first to say that I love Pinterest. And, I love looking at photos on Instagram of organized pantries, closets, garages…whatever!! If it is organized, I want to look at it. So I’m just going to go ahead and say it, I am addicted to organization porn.

Now that I have gotten that confession out of the way I have something else to say.

Just because it doesn’t look like it belongs on Pinterest doesn’t mean it is a fail!

Why am I saying this you ask? This weekend I took some time to tackle one of my ongoing organizational challenges – organizing my kitchen pantry. I don’t have a traditional pantry (oh how I wish I did!), but rather a large cabinet with slide-out drawers and it is also the only food storage area in my kitchen. So we have to make it work.

If I’m being perfectly honest, even as an organizer I struggle to find just the right organizing solution for this pantry. However, I make it work. And by “make it work”, I mean that it is clean, functional, and to me, organized. But is it worthy of all the beautiful Pinterest pantries…probably not?

When it comes to organizing, be it your home, your office, or your inbox your main goal should be finding a solution that is functional, helps you find things when needed and works for you.

Please share your own organization challenges in the comments below. Use the hashtag #organizationchallenges. I would love to address some of your challenges in future posts.
